The scheme is open to clinicians from all professions and values the diverse skills and experience of our health service. If you have an interest or passion for sustainability and are an allied health professional, dentist, doctor in training, healthcare scientist, nurse, midwife or pharmacist – this could be for you.

This unique opportunity will allow clinicians that to work directly with senior leaders of the NHS and help to embed sustainability and net zero principles into clinical practice and the delivery of care across the system.

How it works

During the programme, clinical fellows will have the opportunity to take a step back from clinical practice for twelve months in order to work across the various NHS England directorates.

There will be opportunity to work alongside senior members of the Greener NHS team, and  to lead on projects that incorporate sustainability into the design, development and delivery of healthcare.

Clinical fellows will gain an advanced understanding of sustainability principles and will have the opportunity to develop skills in leadership, management, policy, development, project management, research and analysis, communications and collaboration,

• 26 April 2023, 6-8pm – Virtual host evening
• 28 April 2023, 5pm – Shortlisted candidates to submit post preferences
• 3 & 4 May 2023 – Virtual interviews
• w/c 9 May 2023 – Candidates notified of interview outcomes
• May 2023 – June 2023 – Contract arrangement window
• 1 September 2023 – Fellowship commences
